Snack Time Policy:
Please provide healthy snacks for your child, as we will not be able to provide snacks
for students. Reminder your child to save snacks for after school. Due to food allergies,
students are not allowed to share any food items. Do not send food that will need to be
heated or cooked in the microwave.

Water Bottles:
We are asking that every student bring a refillable water bottle with their name on it.
Homework Policy:
Homework time provides students with the opportunity to begin their homework. This is
a noise-free time. The students are not allowed to play, talk excessively or be disruptive
during
this time. Students will be in assigned seating per grade during homework time. We are
happy to assist with homework when needed, but cannot guarantee that each student’s
homework is correct or completed. Please have a book in their backpack each day. If
your student does not have homework, they are expected to read or sit quietly. If a child
is disrupting another student from getting their work done, disciplinary action will be
taken.

Games and Toys:
No personal toys or games are permitted at school.
Signing In/ Out Policy:
We ask parents to be diligent in letting the staff know if their child’s schedule will be
changing. If you know that your child will not be in After Care due to sickness, vacation,
etc., please send Ms. Trimble an email at [email protected]. ALL
students must be signed out. Students will not be allowed to leave with anyone that is
not on the approved list that you have provided during registration or without a written
permission slip. There are NO exceptions to this policy.

Disciplinary Policy:
We want to provide each student the opportunity to succeed in the After Care Program.
Should a concern arise regarding a child’s behavior/needs, parents will be contacted to
discuss/review the situation. Staff will utilize a variety of appropriate interventions to
address the behavior. If inappropriate behavior should continue, or if a child’s behavior
becomes unsafe for him/her or others, he/she may be suspended temporarily or
permanently from membership. A meeting with the director will be held to determine
permanent suspension. In addition, if a child’s needs are greater than can be met, the
program may not be a suitable option. Students are expected to follow both the Garland
Ignite Student Handbook and the Student Code of Conduct at all times on campus.
